Welcome to The Family Devotion Project
At The Family Devotion Project, we believe that regular family devotions are key to building faith and developing a Christ-centered worldview within the home. Our mission is to educate Christian families on the importance of holding regular family devotional time, and to provide resources and support for families who want to make this a priority in their home.
Why Faith at Home?
The home is often the best place for faith development. Routines, relationships, daily discipleship, and regular worship are all important aspects of forming a rock-solid faith. There is no more convenient place than the home to practice these things. In addition, the greatest chance our children have of developing a Christ-centered worldview depends on the influences they receive in the home. By regularly practicing our faith at home, we are bringing our family closer together and closer to Christ.
Our Challenge
The purpose of the Family Devo Project is to encourage more Christian families to practice their faith at home with one another. No matter your family size or current situation, you can take small steps to bring your family closer to Christ. Our challenge to you is to pick one area for your family to start working on. Let us know you accepted the challenge, and we will keep in touch with resources and occasional encouragement.
The Great Shema
Hear, O Israel! Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one! You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as phylacteries between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
(Deuteronomy 6:4–9, LSB)
